Wilsonville Subaru has chosen the Oregon Surfrider Foundation as their charity of choice for the Surf & Sand foundation package. The Oregon Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to helping keep the Oregon Coast clean, through many programs including:

Beach Clean Ups:

Every year, Surfrider Oregon conducts an average of 60-80 beach cleanups. These cleanups engage hundreds of volunteers in removing thousands of pounds of debris to keep Oregon’s beaches clean. While some beach cleanups are planned in advance, others – called Rapid Response cleanups – are conducted in response to urgent needs to remove marine debris.

#DitchTheStrawPDX:

Plastic straws are one of the most common items that the Surfrider Foundation finds when cleaning Oregon beaches. #DitchTheStrawPDX assists both businesses and individuals in reducing the use of plastic straws. Their mission is to reduce the amount of plastic straw usage in the city, limiting the amount that eventually make it to our beaches.

Ocean Friendly Restaurants:

This program offers restaurants easy ways to create a sustainable environment within their business. A restaurant may be classified as “Ocean Friendly” if it follows certain procedures, including not using Styrofoam, recycling properly, using reusable tableware, avoiding the use of plastic bags for takeout orders and more.

Blue Water Task Force:

This program is run by volunteers who assist in testing and monitoring ocean waters to ensure they are safe for recreation. Volunteers bring samples of water from various sources into the lab, where lab volunteers run tests to ensure the water is safe for us to enjoy.

HOTYB Program:

Creatively named “Hold On To Your Butt”, the mission of this program is to educate he public and raise awareness about cigarette butt littering that ends up washed up on Oregon beaches and elsewhere.

Snowrider Project:

The Snowrider Program was created to raise awareness and increase understanding about the hydrological cycle and encourage people to take care of alpine and valley ecosystems.
