8 Ways to Give Back in Wilsonville this Holiday Season

Looking for ways to give back this holiday season? With Toy and Food drives, donation bins, and plenty of volunteer options, finding a place to give back that feels right to you can be overwhelming. Luckily in the city of Wilsonville, there are tons of options to give your time and love this holiday season!

Check out some of these options:

Wilsonville Subaru x StreetStars Car Meet/Toy Drive

Join us Sunday, December 11th from 3pm-6pm at Wilsonville Subaru! We will be hosting StreetStars for a car meet and toy drive. Please bring one unwrapped toy to donate to the KGW8 Toy Drive! We will be hosting the event, then driving the toys over to a drop off site at 6pm. We hope to see you there.

 

 Wilsonville Toy Drive

Donate a new, unwrapped toy by December 9.

Wilsonville Parks and Recreation is coordinating the City’s annual toy drive to provide holiday cheer for in-need residents in Wilsonville and throughout Clackamas County.

Until Dec. 9, 2022, we invite residents to purchase and drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Parks & Recreation Admin. Building on weekdays between 8 am and 5 pm.  Donations can also be dropped at Wilsonville Orthodontics, 9475 SW Wilsonville Rd., Monday-Thursday (hours vary). Other drop spots may be added and announced.

Fill a Stocking for a Senior!

The Parks and Recreation Department inviting community member to donate and fill stockings for seniors enrolled in the Community Center’s Home Delivered Meal Program. Filled stockings can be donated at the Parks & Recreation Administrative Offices until Dec. 9. Parks and Rec staff appreciates the immense generosity of the Wilsonville community, but please limit stocking donations to no more than 5 per family/group. Fun items to include in your stocking might include small games/puzzles, ornaments, personal care items, greeting cards, stamps, gift cards to local grocery stores, coffee/tea/cocoa and wrapped snacks. KGW8 Great Toy Drive

The KGW Great Toy Drive, a collection event for over 35 years, takes place through December 16. The goal is to collect toys for less fortunate families in Oregon and SW Washington. All donated toys will be distributed with the help of over 150 local nonprofit organizations and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. View a list of drop off locations here.

Wilsonville Community Sharing

The Wilsonville Community Sharing food bank provides food to qualified households in a welcoming environment. Their mission is to leverage resources to eliminate hunger, empower opportunity and restore dignity. Wilsonville Community Sharing is a non-profit social service agency that operates the local food bank and connects families in need with a variety of resources.

Volunteer with the City of Wilsonville

Volunteers donate hundreds of hours of service and other resources to support City programs each year. The critical assistance we receive from volunteers builds stronger community relationships, extends service hours and improves the quality of life in Wilsonville. To apply or learn more about the opportunities available, please click here. Columbia River Orienteering “Ho-Ho-O” Warm Clothing Drive, Memorial Park Wilsonville

Join CROC’s annual warm clothing drive December 10th and keep warm yourself with a brisk winter orienteering meet at Memorial Park in Wilsonville, on the banks of the Willamette River. Your entry is FREE with a donation of a jacket, sweater, blanket, sleeping bag or similar item. Clothing will be donated to a local charity (Mainspring) after the event.

Even though there is no cost with a donation, we’d still like you to pre-register online at the link above. This score-o format is very beginner friendly, and new folks are welcome at this and all CROC events. Free beginner clinics will be offered as needed to get you started with confidence.

There are blackberries. Long pants / tights / lower leg protection is highly recommended.

The Bridge NW Clothing Drive

Through Sunday, December 12, The Bridge NW will be participating in a Clothing Drive for Greenway Elementary. Clothing items can be delivered to the Ministry Center and placed in the Clothing Drive bins found in the lobby. You can find a list of needs for their elementary children here.
