While you may not notice your vehicle pulling to one side at first, over time, your arm will likely get tired from constantly correcting your vehicle’s path. Is it time to get your wheels aligned? A quick alignment check can help determine whether you need your wheels aligned or not.

Wheel misalignment can be caused by a variety of things, one of the more common instances is hitting a pesky pothole. Knowing when to get your wheels aligned can be tricky, since it’s not necessarily part of your regular maintenance schedule. It is recommended that you have your alignment checked every 6,000 miles or so.

Why is getting my alignment checked important?

Your wheels not being properly aligned can take a toll on your suspension and tires. Making sure your wheels are aligned properly helps boost driving performance and can increase the lifespan of your tires. Additionally, if your wheels are misaligned, it can take a toll on your vehicle’s fuel economy. You may notice some wear along one side of your tires, which is a key sign that your tires might be misaligned. Making an appointment for an alignment check can save you money at the pump as well as making your driver safer and more enjoyable.

How do I know when I need an alignment check?

As we mentioned earlier, alignment checks are recommended every 6,000 miles.

However, if your vehicle is experiencing any of the following issues, it might be time:

  • Vehicle pulling to one side or the other
  • Steering wheel vibration
  • Tires wearing unevenly
  • Squealing sounds while turning
