Jebner’s Wish Tournament: A Legacy of Granting Wishes and Making a Difference

The Jebner’s Wish Golf Tournament, Dinner, and Auction is an annual event that holds a special place in the hearts of many. This volunteer-run organization was founded to honor the memory of Jeremy Ebner, a remarkable individual who left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Jeremy’s dream was to help children facing critical illnesses, and through the Jebner’s Wish initiative, his legacy continues to bring hope and joy to young lives. Wilsonville Subaru proudly supports this meaningful cause year after year, joining hands with Make-A-Wish® Oregon to make a positive difference in the lives of local children. This year we joined others at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, OR for the annual tournament to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation. 

Jeremy’s Story:

Jeremy Ebner, lovingly known as Jebner during his college days, was a proud Oregonian and a devoted University of Oregon alumnus. With an unwavering passion for life, sports, and travel, Jeremy had a unique way of touching the hearts of those around him. Sadly, his life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Throughout his courageous battle, Jeremy never lost sight of the desire to help others, especially children going through similar challenges.

The Birth of Jebner’s Wish:

While undergoing treatment at OHSU, Jeremy often spoke about his plans once he regained his health. Among various ideas, he was most passionate about organizing a golf fundraiser to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He empathized deeply with the struggles of children facing critical illnesses and wanted to make a difference in their lives. Combining his love for golf with his desire to help others, Jeremy envisioned a golf tournament that would bring joy to children’s hearts through granting their wishes.

Tragically, Jeremy’s life was cut short on June 2, 2013, after a valiant year-and-a-half-long battle with leukemia. Despite not being able to realize his dream during his lifetime, Jeremy’s friends and loved ones decided to keep his vision alive. Thus, the first annual Jebner’s Wish Golf Tournament took place in October 2013, raising $15,000 to grant wishes to children in partnership with Make-A-Wish® Oregon.

Since its inception, Jebner’s Wish has continued to grow and thrive. Nine additional golf tournaments and various fundraising events have raised an incredible $262,000, making it possible to grant the wishes of 41 local children facing critical illnesses. These wishes have ranged from dream vacations to meeting beloved celebrities, providing moments of joy and hope during challenging times.

For every wish they are able to fulfill, there are three more children who are eagerly waiting for their wishes to come true. These young warriors are battling serious health conditions, and a wish granted can be a powerful source of inspiration, helping them find the strength to face their challenges with newfound courage.

The statistics speak volumes about the urgency of their mission. Every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, highlighting the significant impact these health conditions have on young lives. However, amidst the difficult reality of these diagnoses, Make-A-Wish® Oregon stands as a beacon of light. Thanks to the support of generous donors like you, 15 wishes will be granted today alone, creating a ripple effect of happiness and healing for the brave children and their families.
