Oregon Trail Rally: Dates to Remember

High speeds, technical turns, slippery roads. When you think of rally car racing, this is what you dream of. For 2021, Wilsonville Subaru is once again proud to be sponsoring the Oregon Trail Rally! Being the last of 8 events, the 2021 OTR is the final round of the American Rally Association National Championship. The American Rally Association was founded in 2016 as a non-profit enterprise by leading stage rally organizers and enthusiasts in the United States. The ARA has run a full national series of rally events since 2017. The 2021 event was rescheduled from May due to the pandemic and will occur November 5^th-7^th. Thankfully, the event will resume to a normal schedule in 2022, taking place from May 20^th-22^nd.

Teams at the OTR will tackle 3 separate regions full of the Pacific Northwest’s toughest trails. The racing starts on Friday at Portland International Raceway, which combines the asphalt of a traditional racetrack with muddy infield and gravel service roads. Saturday and Sunday, teams will move east along the scenic Columbia Gorge and will experience the much faster closed county and private roads around the towns of Goldendale, Washington and Dufur, Oregon.

The Oregon Rally Group was formed in 1995 by local rallyists. Some came from a background in stage rally, with others participating in rallies around the Puget Sound area. The past 24 years have brought many winners, but driver David Higgins has dominated the event in recent years. In this year’s race, Subaru Motorsport USA Rally Team’s #199 Travis Pastrana/Rhianon Gelsomino and #180 Brandon Semanuk/John Hall will compete alongside motorsports legend Ken Block and his co-pilot Alex Gelsomino in their own 2021 WRX STI! Teams and guests will easily be accessible for photos and autographs before the start of the event. You can find a list of all participants here.

Through this week and next week at Wilsonville Subaru, we have a model of Travis Pastrana’s Subaru WRX STI on display in the main lobby!

On Tuesday, November 2nd, from 2pm-4pm, Travis Pastrana and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino will be at Wilsonville Subaru signing autographs and taking pictures! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to meet one of motorsports’ most influential athletes! Guests can take photos, sit in his car, and chat with the X-Games star. This Halloween weekend, local drivers will have their trailers and cars set up for visitors to stop by, chat, and take photos. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to meet with the local rally community, as well as some legends of the sport!
