What’s New for Subaru in 2018?
February of 2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of Subaru, and to commemorate 50 groundbreaking years in the automotive industry, the company is unveiling an entire new 50th Anniversary Limited Edition trim level on all Subaru models. Starting in February, Subaru will be rolling out the 11 limited edition models. In addition, Subaru will be releasing two brand new models in the coming months.
Limited Edition Features:
So what’s so “limited” about the features on these new limited edition models? One addition is the new Heritage Blue color, which will be available on all limited edition models. These 50th Anniversary vehicles are based on each vehicle’s top trim level and will come standard with silver seat belts, black upholstery with silver stitching and special embroidered 50th Anniversary logos. While pricing is not yet available, it is expected that more details will be rolling out at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show this February. While the Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza, Legacy and Outback will be limited to 1,050 limited edition units each, the WRX will have 600, the WRX STI will have 200 and the BRZ will be limited to 250 units. Check back on our blog for more details once they are announced.
WRX STI Type RA and BRZ tS:
On top of the nine limited edition trims that will be available in 2018, Subaru is also unveiling two separate limited edition models: the WRX STI Type RA (Record Attempt) model and the BRZ tS (Tuned by STI), which both come equipped with some internal and external modifications to their current models. Both vehicles will be limited to 500 units.
WRX STI type RA:
This performance beast offers many upgrades to the standard WRX STI, including a carbon fiber roof panel, a carbon fiber pedestal wing, BBS 19-inch forged alloy wheels and a removed spare tire, allowing for enhanced performance and 310 hp. Subaru has announced that the price for the WRX STI type RA will be $48,995 plus an $860 destination and delivery fee.
The quick and agile BRZ tS is lightweight and comes equipped with 18-inch wheels, 215/40 R 18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The interior features black leather upholstery with red stitching and accents throughout, a 7-inch STARLINK multimedia navigation system and much more. The BRZ tS will run at $33,495 plus an $860 destination and delivery fee.

What to Look For in 2019:
While Subaru’s 50th year is looking promising, Subaru has a couple things up their sleeve for the year 2019 as well. The Forester will soon be the second largest vehicle in the Subaru lineup, behind the 2019 Subaru Ascent. The Ascent was announced in 2017 at the Los Angeles Auto show. It will be the largest Subaru to date, with 3 rows of seating to accompany 8-9 passengers, depending on trim level. With 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume and a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, this versatile and convenient model is perfect families who are ready to take on their next adventure.
Another addition to the Subaru family in 2019 will be the fifth-generation Forester. The current fourth-generation of the Forester will be receiving a full remodel for the 2019 model, which can be expected to appear in October of 2018.
