Winter Warmth in Wilsonville: Operation Warm at OCDC

Last week, Wilsonville Subaru was proud to continue our support of Operation Warm by donating 120 brand-new coats to the Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC). It was one of those community moments that feels simple on the surface, but sticks with you long after it ends. 

Families gathered at OCDC’s Settlemier Center, kids picked out coats that fit, and the room filled with the kind of energy you hope for at an event like this: excitement, relief, and a lot of smiles. 

Operation Warm is More Than Coats

Operation Warm’s mission goes beyond winter gear. It is about helping children feel warm, confident, and ready to take on their day. A new coat is practical, but it is also personal. Kids get something that is theirs, that fits, and that helps them feel comfortable showing up to school during the cold months. 

Wilsonville Subaru supports this work through our partnership with Subaru Loves to Help, and we are grateful to be able to bring that support directly to families here in our community. 

Why We Partner with Oregon Child Development Coalition

OCDC serves children and families across Oregon through early learning and family support services. Their work creates stability for families and helps kids get a strong start. That care and attention showed clearly throughout the event. Staff and volunteers helped families feel welcome, kept things organized, and made sure every child had the chance to find the right coat. 

The Details That Made the Day Feel Special

This year’s coat delivery was extra meaningful. Along with the joy of kids choosing their winter gear, families were able to enjoy sweet treats during the event, including champurrado and pan dulce. Those small touches helped turn a coat pickup into something warmer and more personal: a community gathering that felt friendly and full of care.

OCDC also recognized Dick Spence from Wilsonville Subaru for continued support. We appreciate that acknowledgment, and we are proud of the relationships that make events like this possible year after year.
